Revd Barbara Johnson is an Anglican Priest in the Church of England. She has been Service Chaplain to the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service since 2006.
‘Prior to this I worked in Personnel Management in the Civil Service. In retirement I took up theological studies at St John’s College Nottingham, being then awarded a BA in Theology in Ministry. During that time I felt called to ordination to the priesthood and in particular ministry in the workplace.
During chaplaincy training, I visited Stevenage Fire Station at the time when 2 fire-fighters were tragically killed on duty. I immediately heard God call me to becoming a Fire Service Chaplain, supporting people who are risking their own lives to save others.’
Barbara will be retiring in July 2017.
